This is a excellent antique piece. It is uncommon due to the chains attached to the pans unlike the typical rod style. Not being an expert on being able to date this piece from all of my research it is approximately from the 1890's . Included is a full set of weights up to 16 ounces. It has three sets of gold dust bowl sets of weights used by assayers. Also, the weight pan sits on the box until prepared to balance by pushing the finger rod at the base of the weight shaft. The brass is still in beautiful condition as well as the large box and drawer. Item is 15" W X 18"H X 8"D.
