Offered is a RARE and LARGE antique green french opaline dresser bottle in excellent vintage condition. The thick hand blown opalescent glass body rests on a elaborate bronze mount of ormolu and scroll feet. The top of the bottle is decorated with intricate hand fashioned chased bronze of meandering vines and roses. This impressive bottle is capped with a heavy top of glass encased with more ornate bronze in a oriental umbrella or pagoda chinoiserie motif with brilliant green opaline showing through the ornate cutouts topped with a decorative finial. The stopper is ground and polished with a dauber end. The bottom is ground with a polished pontil. Napoleon III era from France circa 1850... mabey earlier. Excellent patina only age can provide! Not many of these around... for the serious collector !! In overall excellent condition with one small flake on the bottom of one corner that is negligible but mentioned for accuracy, I could not capture it on a image. Straight from a vanity of a paris apartment - impressive Grand Tour Palais Royale type souvineer. Some later pieces like this one do not have the bottom bronze mount and have a eglomise top. This is definately bigger and better!! Measures 6" tall. The bottle itself is just shy of 2" wide with the base being about 2 1/4" square. Gauranteed authentic and as described.
