This is another piece from my late husbands collection. All of the items were his, some have tags left on them to help me with information and some do not. I will do my best to be as accurate as possible, with my limited expertise. If anyone knows anything regarding an item, please email me and I will be happy to revise the description. Absolutely gorgeous & a Rare 19th century to early 1900s Black Forest hand carved bellow. WOW! What an impressive old piece this is, both in size and the level of expert carving, evident throughtout the entire piece. From the face that tops the front of the handle, to the Lion in the center, to the graceful accents on both sides of the handles and all of the many wonderful adornments this piece offers you. This measures 32" L x 8"w in the center by 1 3/4"d as it stands in repose. Please pardon my inexperienced knowledge I'm sure this is Gothic, but the face reminds me of the movie "Scream". I know it's not that face, but I have been all through Google, and I haven't found anything to help me with the name of this face! If you know it? I will be happy to revise. From t is the most lovely plumes that gracefully drape down the handle. Coming down to the center, is a gorgeous rendition of London's "Rampant Lion" and he holds a flower in his paw. The detail of this carving is approx., 1/4" deep in some areas, exquisite to say the least! Below this are disk designs with half circle centers. At the base is what looks like a Tulip, finished off with a lovely detailed finial. The entire back of the bellow is also beautifully and artisticly detailed, as the photos will show. The back of the bellow in the center area, has what appears to be a Dragon. The leather is still in wonderful condition, it expands to 6", but needs leather cream or oil to soften it and make it more supple. The brass tacks appear to be original to the piece. They are all uniform in size and color. What a wonderful item to grace your homes fireplace or to just add to your collection. T are a few small flaws, such as wear to the wood, but overall in spectacular condition. Don't let this pass you by!! Thank you for viewing this item and happy bidding! I prefer payment through Pay-Pal using your Mastercard, Visa, Discover Card or( Amex in USA Only!). Money Orders or Cashier Checks (only) may also be used. S&H for this is $15.00 plus Ins., in the USA.Call with any questions, @ Tue - Fri 10:AM - 4:PM EST. I DO NOT SHIP TO P.O. BOX ADDRESSES!! I SHIP ON TUES & FRI ONLY!!
