Up for your viewing pleasure is this truly spectacular very rare antique miniature Italian enamel and bronze barrel clock sitting on 4 ball feet. The base of the clock shows a mythology scene of serpents, woman with tails, men with tails and horses hoofs standing in the water, and on the front and back of the barrel shows a man and woman sitting under a tree, on one side the man is fixing the woman hair and on the other side the man is playing a lute instrument. T is a child like figure sitting on top of the barrel holding a wine glass with grape leaves on hair and around waist. Below the barrel are 2 Sphinx ( In the Greek legend of Thebes, the Sphinx was a monster, half-lion and half-woman, who destroyed those who could not answer the riddle) . The clock face has some damage. The clock face has hands missing, and t is a chip at the catch and a chip at the hinge with two-hair line cracks. T are 2 tiny screws that hold the clock face on, t is a tiny chip w the screw goes in. The clock face and works are hinged at the top they can be opened to reveal the works. The main spring is not broken. I have not seen this run. A small opening in the face reveals w the clock winds. The barrel is empty, but could have had something inside at one time. I believe this clock needs some work. This clock measures: 5 ¼" high, and 3" long. This is a very rare and unique find and I hope you would love to add this to your collection of clocks. Please view pictures for condition. Thank you for looking.
