Up for auction tonight is a RARE antique stoneware SALESMAN SAMPLE bangor stoneware company covered crock. I pictured it next to a standard size soda can for comparison, the crock with the cover on measures 4.5 inches tall, without the cover is measures 3 3/4 inches tall and 4 inches across the top. It is incised in blue BANGOR, MAINE, t is one small chip and a couple imperfections in the making on the rim of the crock but cant be seen with the cover on. One small roughness on the bottom edge as pictured, looks to be in the making but could be a chip, lastly t is a very tight hairline that runs down the front through the I in Maine, it extends down to my thumb in the one picture, t are no repairs.
