Very nice old Uhl pottery crock jug done in all cream color which is rarer than the more common brown top crock jugs. It is a five gallon size and is marked on the side of the crock with Uhl Acorn and Huntingtonburg and #5 (see pic) Only one tiny chip on lower rim. (see photo) Super condition overall. It even had part of a cork inside it that I got out and took a picture of. It is 18" tall and has a diameter of 11 1/2". The Uhl Pottery factory opened in 1849 in Evansville, Indiana and was later moved to Huntingtonburg, Indiana since they liked the clay better t The factory was closed in 1944, after almost 100 years of production. I do not know how old this piece is but by doing the math of when the factory closed, I can guarentee it is at least 63 years old!!! I live in Monticello, Indiana and it only makes sense that such a find as this beautiful piece would be found in Indiana. I will ship UPS ground on this item since it is heavy and also when shipping with UPS, it is automatically insured at no extra cost to the buyer. I have experience in packing heavy items and take pride in my packing. Take a good look at this gem and bid with confidence. It is a beauty.
