Fresh from a Victorian estate clean out. is a fantastic original cast iron inkwell from the 1800's. Very ornate with Eastlake detail. Has a Pat. date of Jan. 14, 1879. Features a very rare removable day calendar that is a gem by itself! Out front is a decorative detailed Victorian brass fence intended as a pen holder with original gold finish. Behind the fence is the stamp holding area. The inkwell as shown measures 9" wide and 6 1/4" tall. This early delicate casting has No rust, No damage, No cracks, No repairs. Retains 95% of it's original varnish coating. ~~~ NOTE: One of the small brass turn knobs has a minor casting flaw. You turn the brass knobs to set the month, the day, and the date. The one that sets the date does not turn the paper roll. The glass snail shaped inkwell is very nice but does have some small minor chips around the opening from age and use. The other glass well is missing. ~~~ Over all, this is a very outstanding and unusual inkwell . Much nicer than the photos show. A must have for the collector! Please ask any questions you may have before bidding. Buyer pays 12.00 shipping. Thanks for looking!
