This is a no reserve auction. You are bidding on beautiful and rare period Victorian architechtural lock set. Featuring handsome embossed period Victorian design, the lock measures approximately 7 7/8" tall along the decorative brass detailing. It is approximately 1 5/16" wide. It measures approximately 4" from the front of the decorative brass plate to the rear of the iron housing. The rear of the decorative brass is hallmarked with the number "8" and the opposite side is hallmarked "L". A flat button is located with the decorative brass design. When pushed upward, the door grip handle springs out. Push the handle back in and it locks in place. The lock is in working order as are both keys. The interior of the lock box is hallmarked "284P". The lock and both working keys are operational. The coordinating lock keeper has the same overalls dimensions except for the depth which is approximately 2 1/2" from the back of the decorative plate to the rear of the iron housing. A flat push button also releases the handle in the same manner, locking in place when push in. The interior of the this component is hallmarked "286P" and the interior door pull handle grip is hallmarked "290". Four original door plates come with the set. A matched set for the key locking door and the coordinating set for the other pocket door. Each measures approximately 3 7/16" tall, approximately 2 1/2" wide and approximately 7/16 deep. The decorative embossed brass plates have two component construction. They are hallmarked on the back "1227". Each retains the original as found patina. We have what appears to be the original screws for the lock set and door plates. They and the keys were within a small fragile paper envelope tied to the set when we first discovered it. The iron casings of each component has old back enameled finish showing age wear indicative of period hardware. The black enameled casing of each component is scripted singed with old gold paint "1290 ROYAL". The decorative ornate brass detailing has achieved a warm mellow patina. We have made no attempt to alter or clean this fabulous set, we have only dusted off the exterior dust. We have no idea w it once called home however could be the perfect addition to your restorations needs. We always have antique and vintage jewelry and accessories at auction. Check out our site.
