This auction is for vintage most famous brass and copper cuff bracelet by modernist ART SMITH. The ART SMITH cuff appears in "Messengers of Modernism".This is a piece of art history. Famous cuff was designed and made by Art (Arthur) Smith. Art Smith lived from 1917-1982. He studied architecture at Cooper Union and later became a self-taught jeweler who was inspired by European Modernism and Surrealism. Smith had a shop on West Fourth Street in Greenwich Village from 1948-1979. Marked: "Art Smith" (in script). Bracelet measure about 4-1/2 inches long; inside diameter approximately 2-1/2 inches; opening is about 1" at the middle. Some light surface wear, otherwise fine original condition and great patina.
