Important, rare, early arts & crafts Marie de Hoa LeBlanc signed Newcomb College art pottery mug with the potter's (Joseph Meyer) mark impressed into the mug's base left of Newcomb College's mark. The inside of the mug's mouth has a 1/4" high x 1/2" long chip right of the handle. The chip cannot be seen if viewing the mug from eye level. The edge around the base shows wear and the bottom half of the mug has areas with a gritty feel. I tried to wash it off but it appears to be part of the glaze. All Newcomb Art Pottery are one of a kind
My research on this mug suggests it was made between 1907-1908. Dimensions : 6" high x approx. 4 1/2" wide at its base. Note: Marie de Hoa LeBlanc early arts &crafts pottery is extremely desirable even with minor damage. One of her pieces sold at Rago's Art &Auctions for $42,000.00. Another with whimsical rabbits sold for $84,000.00.
