Bid with confidence on an...... (This item was for auction when illegal access to our account occurred. (The auction had been going for 24 hours only). We tfore withdrew the item from sale and have now been able to rectify problem. We have subsequently re-listed it and apologise for any inconveniences) Genuine RARE Australian Pottery Grace Seccombe Cicada Figure Signed / Incised GS AUS This Genuine Grace Seccombe Cicada figure is in MINT condition and is free from any repairs at all. It has the most brilliant irridescent colours and fine detail to the veins in the wings. The formation and shape is so perfectly modelled form a real cicada that to see it one may believe it to be the real thing. The rich glaze is free from scratches or rubbing. This is a particularly rare figure. I know of only one other cicada figure and that is a murky brown colour with no detail in the wings or beautiful irridescent highlights. It is mounted to a brown flower arranger which is incised Grace Seccombe NSW. I can safely say that t has never been another Grace Seccombe cicada figure offered for public auction in Australia while t has probably been in excess of 1000 kookas and koalas offered. T is a similar item on p.159 of Marjorie Graham's Book Australian Pottery of the 19th and early 20th Century. The item is an opossum in natural colours.
