World War collectors! is a rare, genuine NCO bayonet and scabbard set for the Steyr M95 series of straight-pull bolt action rifles! This is an OEWG marked NCO bayonet with OEWG marked scabbard! It is an Austrian made set, OEWG stands for Oesterreischische Waffenfabrik Gesellschaft and was the Austrian national arms works. Unlike regular bayonets of this family, the NCO ones have the hole at the end of the pommel w a ring was inserted to hold the braided rope denoting an NCO's rank. This braided rope had a decorative knot/tassle. The rings are not usually still intact and that is the case Merely having the hole for it is a rare find! This bayonet will fit the M95 Stutzen or short carbine which has recently been imported in quantity! BOTH the pieces are in nice overall condition. The bayonet is very nice, not sharpened, original edge and good grips, release works perfectly. I wiped most of the storage grease off, but some may remain. T are small spots of pitting that would clean up I suppose. The markings are visible and t is a mark and number (8) on the grip strap metal opposite the muzzle ring. The scabbard has most of its blueing and is OEWG marked, and no major damage, minor finish/frog wear and tiny dings, the frog stud has been arsenal brazed as they usually are. The M95 series was the main rifle of the Austro-Hungarian Empire read more
