This is a super rare "BB" signed, Crawford County Georgia pottery jug. It stands 11 inches in height and is in mint condition without a chip, crack or repair. It is without doubt the most beautiful piece of alkaline glazed pottery I have ever owned. The contrast of dark and light glaze is absolutely stunning. It has always been the centerpiece of my collection of southern stoneware and the piece that people always are drawn to and comment on first. T has always been some debate whether "BB" stood for Bud Beacham or Bill Bryant. Burrison said Bud Beacham in his book on Georgia pottery. T are simply not many pieces that were found with these initials. The glaze looks like a Beacham glaze and actually reminds me of some of the glazes I have seen on some pieces of Edgefield pottery. This Georgia pottery jug was obviously fired in a kiln w one of the pieces exploded leaving decorations on the other pieces. I have always felt that this added to the visual interest of the piece. If you are looking for that special piece of Crawford County pottery to round out your collection of southern pottery, I would give this piece serious consideration. This jug is available for pickup in Atlanta or will bew shipped double boxed.
