Gorgeous West African Hand-Carved Elephant Ivory Tusks Male & Female PRE-BAN These rare antique beauties are exquisite. They are male and female West African ivory tusks from the country of Benin. They were obtained before the ivory ban approximately 45 years ago and carved by the son of a Benin Tribal Chief. We are the original owners, and they have been stored very carefully over the years. As shown in the pictures, both pieces are intricately carved on the front and back sides. They are mounted atop handsome wood bases (either Nigerian Padauk, teak, or unstained ebony). They are able to stand on their own and would make for excellent show pieces. With the wooden base, each tusk measures approximately 26 inches in length and 8 inches in circumference. The female piece is slightly larger in circumference than the male figure. The approximate weight of both antiques is 10 lbs. Pictures were taken in various lights with both flash and no flash on the camera. The pieces have a nice rich patina to them. The true color is not yellow, yet not quite white either. It is a creamy color in between. Winning bidder to pay flat rate shipping/handling charges of $30 on any of the mainland United States. Alaska & Hawaii winners would have to contact me for additional charges. These shipping fees includes required insurance. Seller only accepts Pay Pal or money order; no personal checks. Payment is due within 5 days of the close of auction. NO INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS - if you are bidding from outside the U.S., your bid will be cancelled. Good luck bidding!
