Rare blue Gründig 'Micro Boy', 6 transistor horizontal 'shirt pocket' radio with associated speakerbox. BRAND: Gründig MODELNR.: 'Micro Boy' MFG.DATE: 1959 MANUFACTURER: Gründig, W.Germany This beautiful horizontal 'shirt pocket' radio was made by the German company Gründig in 1959. This radio is commonly seen in gray with a black reverse painted dial face (gray dial) and a chrome speakergrill or in orange with a gold reverse painted dial face (orange dial) and a gold grill. This example is a very rare and uncommon variant with a blue backside, a silver reverse painted dial face (with blue dial) and a chrome speakergrill. This model is almost always found with a heavily cracked and/or chipped backside. This is because the backside is a fraction to small and tfore snaps to tight to the front part. Also this example was in terrible condition when I found it. T was a large chip in the bottom right corner and a smaller chip plus crack in the upper left corner. Also the entire backside was diagonally broken in two parts. The front of the radio is however flawless (even the leather carriying strap is present) and the radio is also working. These facts plus the rare colour made me decide to restore the radio. At least I had to give it a try. The result is however surprisingly good.
