is a wonderful and rare to find both an early butlers tray and its original stand. The tray is dovetailed and square nails with traces of its original paint decoration and with heart cut outs. The base is finely turned, in its original surface, and mortised and pegged construction. The cloth going across the base to hold the tray is a replacement as I am fairly certain that a much finer cloth would have been in its place. On one corner of the tray t is a chip ( see pic ) and the original surface is now a red wash on the bottom with traces of the paint on the stand and tray. The bottom is one large piece of white pine that has a warp to it and could be removed and straightened I believe but I am not a restorer. The writing on the bottom of the tray says " Lillie A. Smith 1881 aug. 12 Presented by her Mother " The tray and stand are much earlier and I think they are about 1830 and maybe earlier then that. The tray is 30" long, 18" wide, and 3 1/2" deep. The stand is 33 1/2" tall when folded. This is a super piece of Americana and I am putting a low reserve and a buy it now price. With the buy it now price t are no shipping charges. Thanks for looking and please email with any questions.
