for your consideration is rare c.1900 hand-painted German bisque nodder. The figurine is about 5 ¼" tall and depicts a woman with a bonnet seated knitting a long white sock. A large loop of yarn is draped over left forearm and she is holding the ball of yarn itself. The long sock she is working on is draped in front of her. Her dress is yellow and tied at the top with a large bow. Her robe is pale blue and the chair behind her is pale yellow. T are hand-painted flowers on her robe, which is accented in gold, and hand-painted pink and blue polka dots on her bow and hand-painted flowers on her dress. The inside of her bonnet is pink; the top is blue; her hair is blonde and her eyes blue. She sits in her base at the neck, suspended by a small metal bar. T is a very fine hairline crack to the piece that forms her neck (which is about 2 ½" long and isn't seen when her head is put on the base). This hairline is minor, in the lower third of the neck piece and does not go through. I only mention it to be as scrupulous as possible. Other than that, she is in beautiful condition: no chips, no cracks, the base is not chipped or damaged (someone has put felt buttons on the base to protect it) and the paint is 95% intact. T is an incised circular mark with what appears to be a "13" and the number "14" is painted in scripted gold. Both these marks are inside the unpainted bisque body of the piece. This is an authentic c. 1900 German piece and not a reproduction. Old nodders in this condition don't come along that often. Don't miss your chance to own this one. Please email me with any questions before the auction ends; I do answer emails. Thanks!
