Beautiful and very hard to find 5 section covered relish tray with lid. Made by the Cambridge Glass Co., the underside of the tray is marked Patent No. 7.2491. This patent dates to April 19, 1927, issued to W.L. Orme. You can check out the patent design yourself by going to the website and running the number. This tray and lid is part of the Royal Blue line released by Cambridge. This line of glass is VERY deep blue cobalt, not the common, transparent Depression glass color. Please note that I did have to lighten up the pics slightly to show the details, the cobalt color is to deep to show the fine details on the original pics. The tray features 5 sections, a large center section, and four smaller corner sections. The lid features an oval shaped ribbed section, with a floral type of design leading up to the two fingerholes. The overall size of the tray is 12 inches by 10 inches by 4 inches high (with lid). This extraordinary piece of Cambridge Glass is being offered with NO RESERVE! 2-3 years ago I saw this piece in one of the major antique price guides listed at $350. Because of the heavy weight of the piece, and the ever increasing postal rates, winning bidder will pay $10.00 postage in the continental U.S. Insurance is optional but highly recommended and will be based on the ending price of the auction.
