EarlyChild'sGreen Transferware Pearlware Teaset SEAWEED ~ SEA LEAF Staffordshire, England c. 1830 This is an elegant miniature child's transferware tea set, a tea for two with a few extra saucers, circa 1830. The color of the set is a deep pea green, finished with a pearlware glaze. The serving pieces are round with raised pedestal bases and fancy scroll shaped handles on the teapot and creamer, plume handles on the sugar, and fancy flower bud finials. The set is comprised of: TEAPOT WITH LID 4" tall SUGAR WITH LID 3 1/4" tall CREAM PITCHER 2 1/2" tall WASTE BOWL 2 1/4" tall FOUR CUPS 1 3/4" tall SIX SAUCERS 4 1/2" in diameter The set features an amazing interpretation of seaweed or sea leaf and underwater plant life. The set is unmarked except of an impressed tally mark and various numerals denoting the size of the pieces. It was probably made by Davenport, Minton, or Godwin, or one of the other pottery manufactories in the Staffordshire region of England in the early 19th century. The actual pattern name is unknown. The set is in great condition. T are a couple of tiny nicks on the underside of the lid of the teapot and a fleabite on the spout; a slightly discolored restoration on the rim of the waste bowl; a discolored hairline inside one of the cups; and no other chips, cracks or repairs on any of the pieces.
