Description: Circa 1800's Black Forest Novelty Shield Clock. Very rare clock with moving eyes (with the pedulum) and moving mouth on half-hour and one-hour strike. Extremely unusual to have both mouth and eye movement. This is truely a one-of-a-kind piece and in our thirty+ years of collecting antiques we have never seen another clock like this. This clock was taken to a Northwest clock club meeting and all agreed it was extremely rare and unusual piece. Condition: Overall this clock is in excellent condition. T is some chipping of paint in the design on the wood surface, however, it is very minor and overall the paint is in beautiful original condition for it's age. Clock has recently been conserved by a N.A.W.C.C. clock repairer, which included the movement cleaned and oiled, rachets repaired, replacement of the ropes, replacing the support rods and repair of the strike locking cam. All wood gears in great condition with bell that rings on half-hour and hour strike with the mouth movement. Clock comes in newly cleaned and refurbished working condition. However we are not clock collectors and are not that knowledgeable about these clocks, but will try to answer any questions you may have. Shipping and Insurance: You will be charged the actual shipping and insurance costs only. The clock will be be well packed, double boxed. We will contact buyer at the end of auction to discuss preferred shipping methods. This clock has been listed with no reserve. Please email any questions or concerns prior to bidding!
