Rare to find is this souvenir program book of the CUNARD WHITE STAR Launch of the ocean liner QUEEN ELIZABETH, in the presence of Their Majesties The King and Queen at the yard of John Brown & Co Ltd, Clydebank Tuesday September 27 1938 Naming Ceremony performed by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth (that was the current Queen of Englands mother the late Queen Mother). There is also a statement from Sept 26th that was issued from Buckingham Palace that the King would not be able to attend, but the Queen will appear along with the two princesses. The program is full of information about the Worlds largest ocean liner. There are several large pictures, 4 double pull out pictures and a gorgeous gold double picture of the liner on stock board meant to be framed, I presume. There are 2 wonderful full-page photos of the King and Queen. The programme measures 13 inches by 10 inches, in very nice condition, a couple of tears on a couple of pages, one double page is missing its section, and one page is loose, otherwise complete and fine. I would say not too many of these were issued nor floating around, so it would be a choice gem for the Ocean Liner, Cunard, White Star or Maritime collector to add to his/her collection.
