WITH A FOREWORD BY ABRAHAM LINCOLN PRINCETON: CAMPUS PUBLISHING / GROLIER CRAFT PRESS, 1924. FIRST ED. A fair condition book with the rear cover detached but present, and all of the spine back strip missing. Otherwise all pages bound in and intact.. 12mo sized book (5 1/2 x 8 1/2). 63 pages, dozens of illustrations and excellent vintage photographs. The crossword puzzle is filled in, as shown. What might have otherwise been a dry sketch of Princeton is "flavored by imagination," but, as we read from the preface, you "may rest assured that the flavoring matter is harmless and complies with the pure food laws, containing less than ½ of 1% of benzoate of soda and possibly less than that of truth." Such is the tone of the entire volume, win we learn that the "candidate for a degree will not be called upon to demonstrate his ability to earn his own living at some useful trade, such as book-keeping of malleable die-casting, but rather, by taking a series of comprehensive examinations, to disclose the extent of his ignorance. By steadfast adnce to this aim, it is believed that the University can best attain its ideal of 'Princeton in the Nation's service,' for the more that ignorance is wide-spread the easier it will be to elect our Presidents and Congressmen.
