Item - Davenport Flow Blue Teapot - "Amoy" Description - This very rare flow blue teapot was produced by Davenport in the 1840s, as per the markings on the bottom. It is in the very desirable "Amoy" pattern. The teapot stands 9 1/2" tall from footing to finial, and is 10" long from handle to spout. The flow of the blue is very substantial throughout the piece and it is just gorgeous on display! That said, t are a few flaws to point out, but keep in mind that this teapot is over 150 years old - pre-Civil War era! On the body of the teapot, t is one 1/8" nick on the side, along with one 1/8" burr in the porcelain (not a chip). T are chips on the side of the spout (see pic). That's really it for the body - no cracks. Now the lid is a different story. A 3" wide chunk has broken out in the past and since been repaired, though t are a few missing chips, the most prominent being a 1/4" section on the edge. The finial has some minor wear, but it is completely intact. My guess is that a professional could fix this lid and the spout - and it might be well worth it, as without those flaws, this is a $1400 teapot. The bottom is marked with the Amoy blue underglaze stamp along with the Davenport incised anchor logo.
