we have what I believe to be a very early piece of southern pottery. I am not sure of the maker but the design reminds me of early FERGUSON and HEWELL works. It is difficult to say since t is no makers mark. If you know please let me know. This has a great combed design. The glaze is very weird and may have been an experimental glaze. It's color ranges from a yellowish type alkaline like color to a reddish brown type color. This piece measures around 10 inches to the top of the lid. It is in MINT condition for it's age. The only problem I could find is a pin head size chip to the top which has to be old because of the color in it. I tried to picture this. It also has the finger prints w it was dipped in to the glaze. If you have any questions please ask. HAPPY BIDDING!!!!!!!!!
