is a V ery Unique & Rare Historical Americana Replica for your collection . Fashioned from cast iron to be used as a wood & coal stove lid lifter in the form of a Prohibitionist's Axe, reminiscent of the Ladies' T emperance Leagues at the turn of the 20th Century! It measures a little over 9" long x 4" wide. On one side, it bears the casting " BUN LAURET STOVE & RANGES ART STOVE CO. DETROIT MICH ". On the reverse, it bears the casting " AXE OF ALL NATIONS " surrounding a facial casting , with the date " 1901 " above the blade's edge. On the handle, it bears the casting " CUT OUT THE WHISKEY ", reminiscent of the late 19th and early 20th century prohibition movement . The end of the handle has a shallow hook , which was used to lift hot stove lids . The side opposite the blade edge has a hammer surface , and t is a hole for hanging on a convenient wall or stove peg . The cast iron has a beautiful patina, which adds a certain charm to it. This would be a great item for anyone who enjoys American History, or just likes unusual art items . Of course it can be used for its original purpose - lifting the lids of cast-iron wood-burning, coal, or pellet stoves. It is a great display item & conversation piece! Don't let this one get away from you! Please examine the photos - they are an important part of this description .
