Well, we are down to the last 6 weeks or so before our boat restoration project is done and we will be moving aboard. We have had yard sales and sold a lot of "stuff" on eBay, but we are not done yet. We have been collecting Dobbs hats and boxes since 1996 and have quite a few. They are really hard to part with. We have both people sized and a whole collection of miniature salesman sample boxes and hats. T are some rare and unusual ones in these collections and some just plain great, so watch our auctions carefully to find one or two you would just love to have. Don't let these get away!

This is an incredible Christmas gift certificate hat and box from Dobbs Fifth Avenue Hats. If you don't know the history of these boxes and hats, if you ordered a hat for a loved one they gave you the little miniature sample with a gift certificate inside. When you gave the gift, the hat and box were kept and the recipients redeemed the paper gift certificate and picked out their new hat.

This particular little pop-up hat was commissioned for Dobbs for the holiday season in the 1940's. The little Santa hat was called the Magic Hat and made by Commonwealth USA. It is listed in the Jean Rossi Plastic Novelties & Toys of the 40's 50's and 60's on page 157 and valued at $75.00. Both hat and box are in wonderful like-new condition. The hat measures 2.75 x 2.5 x 1.5" high. Box is 4.5 x 3.5 x 3" high.

This would be great given as a gift today with a piece of jewelry or a gift certificate inside for that special someone.
