I recently purchased 4 pieces of early lighting and a very early nutmeg grater at the Shelley collection auction in Pennsylvania. The late Mr Shelley was the curator of the Ford Museum for many years. All of the pieces are shown in the first photo. They are all in very good as found condition. You will not be disappointed!! This auction is for an 18th century forged iron ALPINE CANDLE HOLDER. Alpine candle holders represent an adaptation of the spring grip principle from the rush and splint holders. They are sometimes confused with rush holders. Ref. Early Lighting a Pictorial Guide, published by the Rushlight Club p.15 fig 2-23. Approximate Dimensions: (H) 8 1/2", (L) 5 1/2", (W) 3".
