DESCRIPTION: F rom my personal collection, presented is an early OVOID JUG . Bearing the mark, N. & A. SEYMOUR / ROME , this was made by NORMAN AND ARDEN SEYMOUR from ROME, NY d uring the period of production from 1815- 1848 . The striking characteristic of this piece is its shape. It has a well-balance form with an early ovoid shape having a pronounced fat belly and a well-proportioned base and neck. The combination slip and brush floral decoration is deep cobalt blue noted on the front and base of the handle. It is believed to be a two gallon capacty. A fantastic piece of early stoneware in excellent condition! DIMENSIONS: Approximately 11" diameter at widest point, 16" tall, 6" at base CONDITION: CONDITION AS PICTURED. T are insignificant manufacturing flaws including a front stone ping and a stack mark on the left hand side. T are two chips on the bottom rim. PLEASE NOTE: Camera flash visible in picture 1.
