Up for bids is an old English sword for the Order of the Garter. The blade length of the sword is 33". The Order of the Garter is the world's oldest national order of knighthood, and the pinnacle of the British Honors System. Membership is exclusive and extremely limited compared to most modern orders, consisting of the Sovereign and not more than 25 full members, or Companions. The sword's blade is hand engraved on each side and the makers mark reads Hollaway Bullock Warranted. The sword has the mottos of organization, Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense, dieu et mon droit. It also has a man on horseback with drawn swords and several other outstanding graphics and details. The engraving is exceptional and finely detailed and the photographs just do not pick this up.
