RARE EVERSHARP D'AVESN ART GLASS FOUNTAIN PEN DESK SET/HOLDER This is an extremely rare 1930s French art glass fountain pen holder made by d'Avesn for the Eversharp Pen Company. It is in the Art Deco style, a frosted amber glass with a figural pelican on a base decorated with wavy lines. The marbled fountain pen is original to the piece.. the nib is marked Eversharp Made in USA 2 Signature. I believe the tip end of the marbled celluloid pen has been broken off, it probably originally came to a point. The pen needs to be cleaned and serviced but looks in good condition. The art glass holder is in good condition, with only a few very minor fleabite rough spots on underside edge. T is a tiny fleabite on the beak of the bird, and a couple of pin point nips on the sides of the base which may be in the making of the piece... extremely minor. T are no noticeable chips or damage at all. The underside is marked D'AVESN MADE IN FRANCE FOR EVERSHARP. The art glass holder measures 4 1/4" by 3 1/2" by 4 3/4" tall". The pen measures 6 3/8" long. D'Avesn was founded by Pierre d'Avesn. He was taught the art of glass making by Rene Lalique and worked at the Lalique glassworks for a number of years. He was then employed by Daum to design and supervise production at the Verreries D'Art Lorrain near Luneville, which Daum took over in 1927. D'Avesn left Daum to found his own glassworks, which were in existence for only six years, making d'Avesn marked wares quite scarce. You will be very very pleased.
