13 1/2" x 4 1/2" Antique hand painted bisque Queen Louise figurine. This figurine is unbelievably beautiful in soft pastel colors, nice crisp attention to detail from her crown, flowing waist sash, ermine edged cape to her white flowing ornate dress trim and delicate slippers. In her classic and popular pose, she is descending from steps. T are many items available in this pose, but I have never seen an actual statue. The figurine is in great condition. The only defect noted is on her neck scarf below her ear t is either a slight casting defect or small area of restoration. This area in question is only noticeable if pointed out. It does not detract from the beauty of the statue. She also is dusty and needs a careful cleaning. The only marking I could find was on the base which was the number "56" tfore the country of origin is unknown. Lovely rendering of Napoleon's second wife.
A collector has corrected my information. This Queen Louise was not married to Napoleon. He states "I am a big collector of Queen Louise of Prussia, that is what you are offering for sale. Queen Marie Louise from Austria did marry Napoleon. The Prussian queen only married once and actually died in her husbands arms. His name is King Frederick William III. Queen Louise of Prussia, your figurine was born in 1776. Died in 1810. Queen Louise of Austria, Napoleons second wife was born in 1791. She died in 1847. Napoleon actually found Queen Louise of Prussia quite an adversary, he thought her husband was spineless even. " Thank you for this valuable information.
