F. D. N. Y. SUPER PUMPER SYSTEM COMMEMORATIVE PLATE Presented for your bidding pleasure is this Rare and Hard To Find decorative plate depicting the F.D.N.Y. Super Pumper System . This plate has been behind glass in my Fire Memorabilia Collection since 1967 when it was given to me as a gift. This plate is 10" in diameter and has a Gold trim edge. The wording on the plate - F.D.N.Y. & SUPER PUMPER SYSTEM as well as the artist drawings of the Super Pumper, Super Pumper Tender & Super Pumper Satelitte Unit No. 2 are in Red . The plate has no chips or cracks. T are no marking on the back of the plate Intersting Facts About The Super Pumper: On December 3rd, 1963, a contract was signed with MACK Trucks for $875,000.oo to develop a "land fireboat". This would develop into the Super Pumper System and originally was suppose to consist of the Super Pumper & Tender only. The Tender was conceived to have large reels to carry the hose. The Fire Department of New York placed the Super Pumper System into operation on September 30th in 1965. The unique unit now consisted of five pieces of equipment: the Super Pumper, the Super Pumper Tender, and three Satelitte Units.
