This auction is for a rare Ruby Overlay Hobnail Basket, made by the Fenton Art Glass company in the 1940's. This Basket is 8 Inches Tall and is 6 3/4 Inches across. This basket has a lovely ruby / cranberry color, with a clear crystal handle. This rare basket has no opalescence, and was made by fenton in the 1940's. This basket is pre-makers mark, but is pictured in the book "Fenton A - Z", by John Walk, on page # 68. This basket is also pictured in "The Big Book of Fenton Glass 1940 - 1970", by John Walk, on page # 196. This basket is listed in the "Rare, Unlisted and Unusual Items". This reference book states, "We do know that Ruby Overlay Hobnail is out t, but t is no documentation in Fenton's records of when it was made and in what pieces it was made". This basket does have a list value of $100 - $125. This basket is in excellent condition......with no chips, cracks, damage or repairs. Beautiful Basket....not made by Fenton since the 1940's.
