Comments on this piece- A beautiful, first edition woodblock print from the series "100 Chrysanthemums" by Keika Hasegawa. This finely printed first edition set was released in the late 19th century, ca. 1895. These beautiful flower designs were natural and domestic garden flowers found throughout Japan in the late 19th century. Designed in the Meiji era, this series displays a Japanese appreciation for natural beauty. Though these flower prints were reprinted 50 years after their original release, this small group of first edition flowers is a rare opportunity for a collector to own an chrysanthemum from the original release. Singly or in a set, these prints would make a spectacular display in any room and are a great opportunity to add a Japanese touch to an interior.
