RARE FOSSIL TURTLE EGG !
GREAT FOR STUDY, DISPLAY OR COLLECTION!
WHITE RIVER FORMATION
Fossil turtle eggs in the White River formation are only found at the Douglas Wyoming locality. They seldom fossilize because of their soft shells. I have seen one speciman of a turtle with a number of eggs inside. The world famous White River formation is composed of silt with ash deposited around 35,000,000 to 30,000,000 years ago. It represents a partially forested savanna with interspersed rivers and lakes. Much of it was subject to occasional flooding. Frequently erupting volcanos in western Wyoming gave the area many thorough sprinklings of ash. These conditions produced some of the most spectacular fossils in the world. They have been finding their way into museums and collections the world over since the 1870's. The formation occurs in badlands in S.W. South Dakota, N.W. Nebraska and N.E. Wyoming as well as a few scattered areas in Colorado. All my fossils have been collected from private land with the landowners permission. They are completely legal. International buyers are responsible for obeying the fossil import laws of their own country.
