It is truly my pleasure to offer for auction this exquisite, original, and 100% authentic French Art Deco Figural Lamp. This is an original Fayral piece that was cast by the Max Le Verrier Foundry in 1925, and it is even outfitted with equally rare and original acid etched artglass globe shades from the Daum Nancy Company.

For those collectors of Le Verrier pieces, you may recognize this as No. 3016, entitled Nausicaa. Nausicaa is the legendary Greek mythological icon who appears in Homer's Odyssey. She is known for being quite lovely, possessing the beauty of a goddess, and is the person responsible for finding Odysseus washed upon the shore after his devastating shipwreck. Though she develops a strong attraction and love for the heroic gentleman, she does not act upon it.

This is indeed an amazing piece, and let t be no doubt about it, this is certainly not a reproduction or even a Le Verrier reissue. It is definitely the real thing! It is so hard to come across these pieces, especially in such good condition after 8+ decades.

You will find that this is quite a massive piece and much more than just a lamp. It is a piece of history made at the height of the deco era, which originated in France and from which the term Art Deco was derived. This is an exemplary and highly valued piece of art created by one of the true masters of the form.

This piece possesses an all-original, deep, dark green, patinated finish that is so pleasing and appealing. To this day, the method by which the finish was created remains a secret, known only by the Le Verrier Foundry. The lamp features a full-length Greek beauty stepping down into a very deco and geometric pool, which is flanked on both sides by tall, architectural pillars that hold those wonderful, rare, smoky grey, crystal shades.

The shades were made by a famous glassworks company - "Daum". It was founded by Jean Daum of Nancy, and it was "Verrerie the Nancy" that became the epitomy of elegance and style in the art glass industry with its revolutionary techniques. The company's methods included working with colored powders, acids, enamels and hydrogen fluoride, in an attempt to create glasswares that were like nothing seen before. The shades on this elegant piece were produced during the company's heyday between 1890-1930, while in the hands of Jean's son, Antonin.

You will find this piece to be in truly exceptional condition. It is free from any major flaws and defects. The color is, for the most part, even and consistent throughout, the lines are smooth and supple, and the details are crisp and sharp, from the separation in the lovely dame's lips to her relaxed fingertips. This 18" piece stands tall on a very large and heavy solid marble base, which measures just under 10 ½" Wide and 9" Long, and the lamp weighs nearly 30 lbs unpacked! Most importantly, the wiring is in excellent condition and is all original.

You will find that this beautiful piece is signed by the artist Fayral, also known as Pierre Le Faguays and Guerbe. Fayral and Gruebe were pseudonyms used by Pierre, as they were the family names for his Mother and Wife. Le Faguays received a medal of honor for his work in 1927 and was a best friend of Max Le Verrier. The Le Verrier foundry made most of, if not all of, his exquisite pieces, such as the one offered This extraordinary lamp is also signed "Made In France," just as it should be.

The globe shades also are in good condition. They measure 3" in diameter and have a very fine, acid etched, abstract design all around. These are perfectly round, but with minor flaws, like a single air bubble caught in the glass, from production that show both the age and the manner in which they were made. They are both signed as they should be with that 100% authentic signature and symbol - Daum, Nancy " France ". The opening at the base of the shade for the bulb is ¾".

This is a splendid piece that I doubt you are going to see for some time. This original, authentic Le Verrier piece will d...
