RARE Genuine Elephant Ivory Acorn Case & Thimble
Circa * 1875 ... A rare treasure I offer you today, not often seen on Ebay, perhaps once a year. An Antique GENUINE ELEPHANT IVORY Acorn Shaped Thimble Case WITH Matching Thimble! In exquisitely perfect condition, with a milky white colouring, this wonderful piece of history shows the lovely graining proving it's authenticity. Carved in the shaped of an acorn, with perfect waffle carved top, complete with pierced knob for hanging from a chatelaine, the velvet green ribbon it was sold with is STILL INTACT. This lovely treasure was very obviously bought and then carefully put away fro safekeeping. Vintage velvet ribbon still tied on! The top is wonderfully carved, ivory graining showing through perfectly. The bottom piece is perfect fat little acorn body carved from elephant ivory showing the grain well, and with a double concentric line pair carved around the middle. The body ends in a flattened finial end, all in perfect condition. Unscrewing the top from the base of the acorn we peer inside and delightfully lift out a perfect little antique ivory thimble. Carved with a modified beehive design, the little divits are all intact and carved beautifully. The thimble is a lovely milky creamy colour. Looking at the egdes of the top and bottom pieces we see that the threads of this acorn are perfectly intact, no damage whatsoever, rare for such olde antiques made from such delicate material, in fact t is no imperfection at all to this lovely piece of history! From a private collection. ~ *~ *~
