enlarged photos taken with fluorescent daylight lighting ***Very Rare Genuine North Carolina Hiddenite - More Than Just Green Spodumene*** Although most green Spodumenes are called Hiddenite, the only true Hiddenite comes from Hiddenite North Carolina. The green in true Hiddenite is caused by Chromium, the same element that gives Emeralds their green color. Hiddenite is a Lithium based mineral and closely related to Kunzite. Hiddenite the mineral and town was named after mineralogist William Earl Hidden (1853-1918) who discovered this mineral in 1879 near Stony Point, Alexander County, N. C. On my last day of shopping in Tucson I walked into the room of a North Carolina dealer who specialized in Jackson's Crossroads Amethyst and North Carolina Hiddenite. The Hiddenite was very expensive but I really wanted a few pieces - at least one for myself. I carefully picked out three petite crystals and I am offering one of them August 2006 Update: This dealer was at the East Coast Gem and Mineral show. I was able to pick up more of these very rare crystals. This Hiddenite crystal is multi-terminated at one end. If you look at the two photos below the terminated end is on the outside. It measures 13 mm by 8.5 mm by 5 mm and weighs 2.5 carats. It has multiple terminations on both ends. This crystal is one of the rarest crystals in the world. According to Robert Simmons, co-author of The Book Of Stones, "True Hiddenite offers a link, through the awakened heart, to the consciousness of Nature." ********** Payment info: I accept PayPal, Money Orders (US only), and Personal Checks (US only).
