Offered for your bidding is a beautiful and extremely rare early 19th century Georgian/ Regency period Bristol glass rum decanter. The deep cobalt blue glass decanter is of mallet form with three applied rings around the neck, and a flat teardrop stopper with bevelled edge. The decanter still retains most of it's original hand painted gilded decoration on the rings, and on the front, which bears a shield shaped label identifying it as being intended for 'RUM' while the stopper has a script 'R' painted on it (see photos for details and condition of gilding). The bottle is free of cracks and chips, while th ebottom shows some scratching from age & use.The stopper has some roughness to the edges from use. Overall condition is extremely good for it's age. Bristol blue glass decanters of this period are highly sought after and rarely are offered on ebay - don't miss the opportunity to add this to your collection.
