This lot consists of a very rare prototype Parker Giant SOLID WOOD fountain pen. The pen was made in Germany for the Parker Pen Company as an experimental or test market pen; I have been informed that the series of test market pens were made with either 6 or 11 different woods and finishes. I have personally seen four of them, and they are all quite unique. They are made from solid wood, that was machined for a thickness of approximately 3mm on the cap (it is not possible to measure the wood thickness of the other parts of the pen, because of the insertion of the pen parts), exquisitely cut to emphasize the natural grain of the wood, and sanded and stained to a perfect finish. The pen is marked "PARKER" with the circle arrow Parker trademark on the goldplated ring on the section. The pen has a huge 14K gold nib with what appears to be either a broad or very large medium point. The pen is huge -- Cuban Cigar size; it is approximately 5 5/8" (approx. 14.3cm) capped; it was not designed to be posted, but the barrel alone is approx. 5" long. I have also provided a picture of the pen in comparison with a full size Parker 51 vacumatic filler, and a full size Parker 75 fountain pen to demonstrate the size of the pen. The pen was inked but has no defects -- I would categorize it as in E/NM condition. This is a very rare collectible Parker protoype pen, and would make a worthy addition to any Parker pen collection. As a note, I had been advised by a well known pen dealer that the price at which these pens usually are sold (if they are found at all) is $450.00USD; my reserve is substantially below that value for this pen. I have a no questions asked 3-day return policy, as long as the pen is returned in the same condition as sent; paypal fees and shipping will be deducted from the refund unless t is a material misstatement in this post.
