This auction is for one (1) rare fantastic antique Leonard J. Uhlfelder Company advertising GLASS GLITTER/TINSEL tin from the turn-of-the-century -- with original contents! This wonderful piece of history is in remarkable condition, considering its age! No dents, holes, or rips to container or label! Top is rusting, but still opens and closes; base is showing some tarnishing, but still has some original silver metal patina. Wonderfully embossed on base reads: PUNCH HOLES/ TO SIFT, with a series of indented circles surrounding text. Paper label reads, in blue text and graphics: SUPERIOR QUALITY/ SPARKLING TINSEL/ series of mirror-image designs, with horseshoe and monogram LUCo in center/ LEO. UHLFELDER CO./ NEW YORK/ 1 LB. Stamped to right of New York: FINE; Stamped within banner/box: GOLD GLASS TINSEL 20/70 Rare find -- all original and with contents! Leo. Uhlfelder Co., begun in 1895 in New York, was (and still is) a very successful business importing quality gold and silver leaf, glass, ribbon, etc., as well as other gilding supplies. A Jewish Pioneer of the time, he marketed German glass glitter, primarily for decorations. Hard-to-find, even now and very expensive -- You don't come across these very often!
