'SELLS WITH NO RESERVE" is a great weight driven GUSTAV BECKER figural wall regulator clock. SIZE - 56"H x 19-1/4"W x 8" D.
A signed GUSTAV BECKER late 1800's 8 day time and strike movement, which strikes a gong on the half hour and hour. It is weight driven with 2 brass weights and has a brass bezel around the dial as well as a brass pendulum bob, porcelain chapter ring and center dial with the center dial having a GB within a circle stamped on it. The movement mounting bracket is marked MADE IN GERMANY and has the old thumb screws that hold the movement tight. The pendulum stick looks old but has a lighter finish on it. Dial has a seconds bit and case has a porcelain beat scale below brass bob. The case has a very large molded figural door which is the entire front of the clock and when opened reveals the rectangular case that is seen on most large German wall clocks. This clock I purchased from a man I know who attended an estate auction in Ohio that sold a number of big clocks. I have had it running and it runs and strikes well although it is a touchy one and has to be perfectly level and adjusted to stay running the full 8days. I forgot to mention the dial size is 7" and I also have the key. I have seen some 10 or 15 miniature wall clocks with ornate molded doors but never one this big. The clock is very ornate as you can see by the photos. The flash from the camera made the case look lighter in color in some of the photos than it really is. Its true color is like the darker photos. The finish on the clock is a dark glossy almost lacquer type. Inside the case, the back has some areas w the finish has been removed somewhat by ( it looks to me like ) tape from someone taping the pendulum to the case to transport. I think some clear coat may be what it needs but that is up to the next owner. The chapter ring has a minor hairline on each side of the numeral 4 and a very faint one by the numeral 1. I see no repairs to the movement. All the brass is unpolished with a few very small dings to the weights (nothing bad at all ).The case has some wear to some high spots which actually makes it look better. Email me with any other questions and look at all the photos for condition before bidding. As far as shipping goes its not very heavy at all but will be classified as over sized and my guess is UPS or FED-EX ground will take it and with pack- aging it could be $150.00 or more to 48 states depending on destination.
