We offer extremely rare antique tatted hanky. It is verydifficult to find real antique tatting. If you look at the photo carefully you will see that instead of traditional joining picots t are pairs of picots that were tired together with an additional thread and the ends cut off. The technique of a joining picot (direct connection, without any knots) that is well known by each tatter was invested in 1861. This technique made tatting much easier, significantly less time consuming and much more attractive. That was why a joining picot as we know it now replaced old type of connection very quickly, by the end of 19 th century. So, if we see knots and thread ends in connections of picots it means that tatting was made not later than in 80-s of 19 th century. This hanky is one of these authentic antique tatted hankies and may be very valuable in any collection. Condition is good: clean, no discoloration, no holes. T are a few very small and light spots (difficult to find). Color is white. Size: 11 x 11âe . Width of lace is from 2 ½âe to 4âe at the corner diagonal.
