RARE Holt Howard Solid Color 300 Proof Pixie Decanter

We have this really adorable 1958 pixieware, solid-color liquor decanter that states "300 Proof". This has to be one of the more rare pieces of Holt Howard's Pixies, because the solid colors were only made for a short period of time. According to Walter Dworkin's Holt-Howard Collectibles Price Guide, (page 21) the original three liquor decanters that came out in 1958 were all in solid colored bases. Consumers weren't happy with this and wanted the striped bases that matched the rest of the pixieware pieces. So, within a short time frame, they re-issued the three decanters with striped bases. Now that you know the history, I'll give you the details on her/his condition, but please keep in mind after reading everything, considering what she went through, she looks pretty darn good. When my husband found her, she had a broken neck and topknot which were both reglued with what looked like hardened rubber cement, but the base was in excellent condition with no chips or cracks, just crazing. So we took the top to a woman we knew that did wonders with ceramic restoration. If you look at her neck with a magnifying glass you might see a slight ridge. As for the topknot, you can see a ridge without the glass and also brush marks. T's also areas w she had trouble getting the paint to stick on the hair and knot. And you can notice some white streaks or splotches on the front and back of the knot as well. T is a little roughness on the back top edge w a little paint chipped away. I know I'm making this sound worse than it is, but I really try to list everything I see in detail, so t are no surprises or unhappy customers. I tried to capture everything I mentioned in the pictures. We'll be happy to answer any questions or send more pictures. We prefer payments made with Paypal, but personal checks are fine.
