This auction is for an Ilvaite crystal cluster from South Mountain , Idaho

As always, the items pictured are the items you will receive. is a mineral cluster you don’t often see! The specimen is as it was collected. It has not been trimmed, cleaned or otherwise prepared for display. T is a lot of potential With some careful trimming, this could be turned into one highly desirable, collector specimen! It could possibly be trimmed into a number of smaller, equally desirable specimens. Or??? Leave it as is…it’s still interesting. All sides and top and bottom of this piece show evidence of imbedded Ilvaite crystals. T are also a number of vugs and t on the piece that could possibly open up, revealing even more crystals. As described by John Sinkankas in Mineralogy for Amateurs (Page 515), Ilvaite is “A relatively rare species…”. Also mentioned in this paragraph are some of the localities w Ilvaite is found, one being: Laxey Mine, South Mountain , Owyhee County , Idaho . This specimen is from South Mountain , Idaho . The rough, approximate dimensions of the piece as shown in image 6 are: 8-1/4” left to right, 5” top to bottom and 6-1/4” front to back. It weighs 8 lbs, 5.5 ounces. Image 7 shows the piece with a quarter resting in a convenient niche and a ruler spanning the bottom edge (for size reference). Please note: The most economical USPS method of shipping this item is in a Priority Mail, Flat Rate Box and this piece takes up most of the space in that box. It may require separate shipping from any other larger items.
