This rare dagger is over 100 years old and shows signs of use and wear. It bears the double squirrel Eichorn maker mark. Both sides of the blade are etched with the same images; the sailing ship, trophies, and crowned anchor, and have an overall even medium-dark patina. The blade has been period-shortened as well as the scabbard, probably by the original owner. T is a slight sharpening to one side of the blade. T are a few slight dark rust spots on the blade. The langet is the folding type. The pommel has the open crown. T is an additional crown on the crossguard. Traces of the original gilding are evident in the recesses of the hilt and scabbard. The scabbard is brown leather with upper and lower brass fittings. Both staples are present in both fittings. T is one dent toward the lower scabbard fitting front tip. The hanger lug on the upper scabbard fitting has a slight compression into this fitting but remains sound. The dagger fits completely into the scabbard. Measures 19 inches from tip of crown to tip of blade. When in mint condition, these daggers are exceedingly expensive. This dagger has a sensible reserve at a fraction of mint value so bid accordingly. Item sold as is, no returns, Ask Questions! Sorry, USA sales only.
