This is a three piece, quadruple silverplate, berry set made by James Tufts of Boston during the 1880's. The set is comprised of a handled berry bowl, a creamer and sugar. All have a quatrefoil shape and stand on tapered pedestals. The top rims are decorated with floral scrollwork. The finish is a light matte with bright pedestals, border and handles. Each is marked, "James W. Tufts, Boston, Warranted Quadruple Plate" around the trademark of a four point star with a "T" in the center and the model number 1891. The pieces' overall condition is very good. T is light wear to the edges of the handles, one doink within the berry bowl and the base of the sugarbowl is slightly out of round. None of this is immediately apparent and does not dtract from the appearance or use of this rare berry set. The berry bowl has a diameter of 8", is 11 1/4" wide across the handles and stands 4" tall at the rim. The sugar has a diameter of 5", is 7 3/8" wide across the handles and stands 2 3/4" tall at the rim. The creamer has a diameter of 4 3/8", is 5 1/2" wide from spout to handle and stands 2 7/8" tall.
