Up for consideration is a very unique table designed by Edward Wormley for Dunbar furniture of Berne, Indiana. It has 4 round tiles that as the historical record states were inserted by Otto and Getrud Natzler. The table measures about 25 1/4 inches high by 24 1/2 inches in diameter. The tile sizes are as such 2 at 1 3/4 the largest at 2 3/4 and the mid sized at 2 1/4. The tiles are in good shape no chips cracks or repairs. This table is Catalogue No. 5741N. Described as walnut with rosewood. T were only 8 table designs incorporating the Tiffany or Natzler tiles. This information was given to me my a Dunbar Rep of which it is greatly appreciated! Thanks As for function of this piece it would serve well as a center, occasional or cocktail table. Please see photos provided to help appreciate the simplicity and or complexity as executed by Wormley and his cohorts. Provenance: From a prestigious estate in Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan. Condition: Original finish on sides and bottom. Top has the remnants of old varnish light scratches on top and sides etc. Old blemish to edge see photos Please note: I had cancelled the previous auction as t was an extremely detrimental spelling error in the listing of which has been corrected. Thanks. The Janus collection , introduced in 1957, totaled nearly seventy pieces. It was a modern collection that openly acknowledged Edward Wormley's historicist leanings, citing California architects Greene and Greene and other Arts and Crafts sources as inspiration and featuring such design details as inlaid tiles (first Tiffany and later Natzler) and antique Japanese wood blocks. It truly is a very historically significant table. Likewise pieces as such don't come on the market very often so take your time and ponder. Remember no buyers fees... 20% or auction fever...just straight honest stuff from a reliable seller. Judging by auction results from various modern auction houses across the country, prices have doubled and tripled on some Natzler tile top table pieces from 2002 to 2005. This could prove to be a solid investment as the world of Modern continues to perform well in our global market. Please view architonic and or wright20 auction house for relative pricing on Natzler tile inserted tables over the past few years. I could not find an identical piece to compare too. However I would assume that someone would have to pay at least a few thousand dollars to own such a piece from any Gallery in the know.. Please note: absolutely guaranteed 100% authentic Wormley, Natzler.....for Dunbar . Shipping: 75 dollars or less to continental U.S. buyer pays for insurance. If you have any questions or concerns please email. Thanks and good luck. Sincerely John.
