This is a wonderful example of the early Samurai weaponry, this tanto is marked on the tang with a signature of San-Ju Yoshi-Nori who was working circa 1550s, it's a very rare blade in original shirasaya case, the blade has a wonderful Harimono work on both sides with a Budhist prayer on one side and intricate design on the other, very nice original tamper line which is visible well and turns around the tip continuing to the spine of the tip area, blade is in full polish with no blisters nor openings just microscopic roughness in at the base of the edge which is easily polished off. Blade measures 11 ¼" from tip to notch in the copper habbaki, overall 18 ¼" inside shirasaya. Very good to excellent condition and an amazing 500 year old article of Samurai Life.
