~ JAXON SEVEN (early Jackson China) ~ ~ Set of 2 mugs - green stripe ~ (1917-1930's) **** Today I am offering two RARE heavy-duty mugs from Jaxon Seven, which with assistance from the good folks at the Restaurant Ware Collectors Network (a phenomenal reference place for help) I learned is one of the earliest in the Jackson China restaurant ware. Relatively little is known about this early line of Jackson China ware. These mugs date to between 1917-1930's. Each measures 3 3/8" tall with green lines accenting the rim, handle, and mid-section. If you know restaurant ware, you know that Victor mugs are some of the heaviest. These Jaxon Seven mugs have a thicker body (approx. 1/3" thick), and a handle that's about 1/2" thick. Victor mugs typically weight about 1.2 lbs. Each of these mugs weighs over 1.4 lbs. The part that remains a mystery is the significance of the word "SEVEN" in the bottomstamp. ** 5/7 Update - A restaurant ware friend informed me that the "SEVEN" means 7 oz. The J.V.C.Co. is Jackson Vitrified China Co. Both come to you in excellent condition. Plenty of gloss inside and out. Some light wear to the rim and handles. Coloring remains vibrant. No chips, cracks or hairlines. A fantastic pair of early Jaxon China mugs for the collector. Truly a rare find! Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate your interest! Please read more
